Turning Inward to the Divine Spark

We so often lift our eyes upward, searching the heavens for the face of God, as though the Divine dwells in some distant realm. Yet the deepest truth calls us to look inward. For we are not separate from our Creator; we are fashioned in His very image. As it is written in the Book of Genesis: “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Before anything can be brought into existence, it must first be envisioned in the mind of the Divine. In that holy vision, we were conceived — not as distant creations, but as living reflections of the One who formed us.
Place your hand gently upon your heart and feel its steady rhythm. In that sacred beat, you are touching the very animation of life itself — the pulse that flows through your blood, the breath that sustains your being. This is no mere biological wonder; it is the living signature of the Creator. The same divine force that spoke the universe into existence now beats faithfully within your chest. What greater intimacy could there be than this?
Jesus Himself revealed this profound mystery when He said, “The kingdom of God is within you.” He taught that we need not cry out, “Lo here!” or “Lo there!” for the Divine presence is not found by scanning the skies or distant horizons. The Apostle Paul echoed this truth, declaring, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you?” and “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” We are God’s living temple; the Spirit of the Living God dwells within us.
Even in the Holy Quran, this intimate nearness is powerfully affirmed: “We created man, and We know what his soul whispers to him: and We are closer to him than his jugular vein.” God is nearer than the blood that courses through our veins — closer than our own heartbeat, more intimate than our deepest thoughts.
Let us therefore cease scanning the skies in vain longing. God is not far off in some remote heaven, waiting to be found. He dwells closer than our own breath, nearer than our own heartbeat. Turn inward, beloved. In the quiet sanctuary of your own heart, you will discover the One you have always sought — the Divine spark that has been with you from the very beginning, pulsing with eternal life and love.
Divine Creator,
we come before You now,
not with eyes lifted to the heavens,
but with hands gently placed upon our hearts.
In the quiet rhythm of each beat,
we feel Your presence…
alive, near, and pulsing through our veins,
through our very being.
You did not place Yourself far from us, O God;
You breathed Your own essence into our souls,
making every heartbeat a living prayer,
and every breath a whisper of Your love.
We are not separate from You, Lord.
We are not searching for You in distant places.
We dwell within You,
and You dwell within us.
Let this sacred truth sink deep
into every heart and every mind gathered here:
that we are fashioned in Your holy image,
and the spark of life that animates our blood,
our thoughts, and our love…
is You, O God.
Help us now to turn inward, dear Lord.
Help us to listen to the sacred drum within our chests.
Help us to remember that You are closer than our breath,
nearer than our own heartbeat.
May every soul here feel this holy intimacy,
and carry it with them always.
In Your most sacred and holiest of names we pray,
Amen.
